Congratulations to Dr. Vanessa Spearman, Assistant Professor on being Appointed Chair of the Association of Medicine and Psychiatry Early Career’s Committee, Vice-President and Membership Chair of the Augusta HBCU Alumni Alliance, and SE representative for the National Alumni Association of Spelman College Health and Wellness Committee. Dr. Spearman is an excellent ambassador of our institution.

 

Congratulations … Co-Editor of First Textbook on Thyroid Complications …

Please join us as we congratulate Dr. David Terris, Chair, Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery on being co-editor of the first textbook on thyroid surgery complications. “Thyroid Surgery: Preventing and Managing Complications,” covers potential complications that can result from removing the small gland at the base of the neck that regulates metabolism and calcium levels. Job Well Done … Full Approval by the Commission on Approval of Teams …

We applaud our Craniofacial Center Colleagues on recently being fully approved as a Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Team (CPT, CFT) for five years by the Commission on Approval of Teams (CAT). Having this designation gives reassurance to our patients and families that our team meets the Standards for Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Teams as set forth by the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association and Cleft Palate Foundation.

 

Student Town Hall Held by Vice Dean and Dean …

This week Vice Dean Paul Wallach and I held our first Student Town Hall together. These Town Hall meetings are an especially important event to allow us to bring the students current information as well as hear back from the students. We look forward and encourage all our medical students to place on their calendar and attend the next Town Hall which is scheduled for May 8th at 12 noon in the Lee Auditorium.

 

Therapy Dogs Make A Visit With Our Students …

Recently our medical students hosted a visit on campus from our four-legged friends.
